In todays Wall Street Journal, Sarah McBride interviewed Mel Karmazin. Did Mel slip some info? Questions about the "BUY" button on the New SIRIUS portable unit due out around June was asked....
Karmazin told the WSJ, "We don't see that as being a great business model for us. We don't need to own a downloading service. We think that we could outsource that store. But buying music is something that we're open to. If you, the consumer, hear a song on Sirius and you want to buy that song on our device, we're going to enable you do it. But you can go to Yahoo and do it, or you can go to some other third party to do it."
Could this be a hint of a deal between Yahoo! and SIRIUS, in the past these to companies teamed up to cover the Stern move to SIRIUS, giving the Yahoo! Web cast the highest "ratings" of any live webcast in history.
Orbitcast.com is also speculating on this possible partnership.
Could this be the "Major Deal" that we first reported here. Mels comments are just adding to the speculation. One would guess that SIRIUS would team up with a service for the new buy button unit(s)..
