Avoid Thunderstorms, AND Listen To Howard Stern!
Back on Feb 8th 2006 we reported WSI Corporation announced that it was developing a system that will enable aircraft to receive WSI's leading aviation weather information over SIRIUS Satellite Radio, and SIRIUS' audio programming for passengers. We now have some follow up info on this, WSI (the Leader in Weather and Sister Company to The Weather Channel) has announced their InFlight service will move to Sirius Satellite Radio's 3-Satellite Network.
WSI will be ending their service on their existing technology on April 30th, 2007. They will provide rebates for existing customers of InFlight to reduce the cost of the new SIRIUS-based hardware.
The MSRP for the AV300 replacement kit (which will provide Weather-only) is $1200. The AV350 replacement kit (which will provide Weather and Sirius Radio service) will MSRP for $2700. These kits work with existing InFlight-compatible displays.
WSI will send information regarding the upgrade rebates to their customers shortly.
