XM Satellite Radio just announced that they added over 568,000 net new subscribers during the first quarter of 2006 for a total of more than 6.5 million subscribers. That brings the rate of new subscribers for Q1 06 to be 6,311.1 additions a day for the FULL Quarter, that's compared to SIRIUS' 8,860.76 subscribers a day as of March 20th. It is very important to note that the numbers out today by XM are for the FULL Quarter. The numbers we know from SIRIUS are as March 20th. XM's report today ensure that SIRIUS won the war once more this quarter. One also has to ask how many XM Subs are now paying a lower retention rate, and not the full $12.95.
