Updating today's news about Mercedes-Benz USA, going offer SIRIUS radios as a standard feature in particular models, beginning next year. Read more in our story here, and also check out Forbes.com they are also running a story about this new deal.
I just want to make some personal observations regarding SIRIUS and OEM deals. SIRIUS is king in all the Luxury car makers. They now have exclusive deals with BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mayback and Volvo, not to forget deals with Porsche, WV, Audi, Land Rover, Infiniti and Lexus. SIRIUS has almost all the Luxury makers on their team, sure not all are exclusive, but most are. XM shares the Luxury market having deals with Infiniti, Lexus, and a few others. SIRIUS has FORD, Chrysler, WV and more.
This got me thinking, has anyone looked at the demographics of SIRIUS VS XM subs? Do we think that SIRIUS will get more of the Luxury Market over the years? Will this let SIRIUS sell Ads (on talk stations) targeting a more Luxury based group? Does this really matter? Who knows? But it is something to think about, SIRIUS has exclusive deals with BMW, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mayback and Volvo.. and XM has excusive deals with Honda, GM & Hyundai.. The few Luxury cars with XM are non-excusive deals. It is clear that SIRIUS has the Luxury Automakers on their team.... Did they want the Luxury Market, or did it just happen?
