Tomorrow I fly across the country, and I have done this a few times this year. As you know if you fly a lot know inflight music sucks and the cut up movies are not the best. I have got a little set up to get Sirius in flight. I will post how I do it today and I will take some inflight photos tomorrow, to show the set up at work. This also will make any Siruis unit portable... with alot of wires..
What you will need to make this work:
PR2310 Universal Li-Ion Power Bank 3-12V DC
12V power pack - I use this one and it works with Starmate, Starmate Replay, Sportster, Sportster Boombox, and JVC SR-1000. This battery pack will give you 3V-12V of power, and comes with four ends, some Sirius radios you may need to run to Radio Shack and buy one to fit all the radios.. It last over 4 hours at 12V.
Sirius Home Antenna
You will need a home antenna.. You will also need a WINDOW seat.. The home antenna will fit nice between the window shade and the window...
This thing will amp your headphone volume, and most Sirius radios will need it so you can hear the audio...
Any type of headphones..
I have had very good coverage and drop outs are not bad at all, the only time things get bad is when taking off or landing. Once you are up at 30,000 you will get a very nice clear signal .
Now the only guidelines from the Airlines that I can find is you can not transmit, so make sure your FM transmitter is OFF. Other then that Sat radio is safe to have inflight.
This has worked on the following aircraft:
