"Sirius 4, is a ground back-up"
In todays Sirius 2Q conf call there was questions about the 4th satellite came up,
(Q)will Sirius put it up in the sky?
(A) Sirius 4 (the name of the 4th bird) is "our ground back-up". A questions about a 5th Sirius Satellite also came up... It looks like Sirius is looking down a road a little, Mel said, We are looking at a powerful sirius 5, but we are just looking at all the options. So there was no real answer to all the chat online about Sirius putting up #4. One thing that was for sure, we can not be sure.. Sirius satellites aren’t in a stationary orbit like XM or Directv. Sirius elected for an in motion orbit which basically does a large figure 8 over north and south America.
